How To Make Homemade Greeting Cards

Birthday cards let someone realize that you are thinking of them on their own special day, and so they should have a unique message. Over the counter cards may say what you would like, but they lack a personal touch. For something unique and collectible, help make your own birthday cards. Card stock paper is instantly available. Don't forget to raid the scrapbooking section inside your local craft store for unusual papers and decorations.

Homemade Greeting Cards

Background

Cut out various shapes inside a variety of colors, like stars, clouds, and squares, and glue towards the background. If you want frayed edges for the card, cut the background a little wide and move a scissor onto it, in a random pattern.

Design

The most popular tools for making cards are glue, paper (in various shapes), glitter pens, photos etc. Concentrate on the design according to how you want your card to show out. Enliven the card with punches, stickers and ribbons. Instead of the standard rectangle, you can also experiment with various shapes, just like a half circle.

Images

Place a single image on the front and highlight it with quotes or colorful shapes. Select a picture that balances your message inside.

Writing

Use marker or glitter to create your messages. You can also use calligraphy. Don’t write your message inside a straightforward way, instead break it down, just like a sentence here, another word hiding behind a picture or forming steps with words.

Purchase

Buy a card making kit from a local craft store. Typically, this kit includes paper, die-cuts, glue along with other goodies used in making homemade cards. Assembly of them is still required, but the kit can help to save a little time and supply individuals with ideas. The kit may serve as a starting point for making cards, but individuals can invariably add more designs and trinkets to create their cards special.
